Valoemissionäyttöjen

Valoemissionäyttöjen, also known as light-emitting displays, refers to a category of electronic visual output devices that produce light directly from their pixels to create an image. This distinguishes them from reflective displays, which rely on ambient light. The most prominent examples of valoemissionäyttöjen are OLED (Organic Light-Emitting Diode) and LED (Light-Emitting Diode) displays.

In OLED technology, each pixel is composed of organic compounds that emit light when an electric current is passed through them. This allows for individual pixel control, resulting in true blacks, infinite contrast ratios, and vibrant colors. OLEDs are also known for their thinness and flexibility.

LED displays, while often referred to simply as "LED TVs," typically utilize a backlight. In this configuration, light-emitting diodes are used to illuminate a layer of liquid crystals (in LCD panels) or other light-modulating elements. The term "LED display" can also refer to direct-view LED screens, where individual LEDs are used as pixels, commonly found in large-scale digital signage and some high-end televisions.

Both OLED and direct-view LED technologies offer superior brightness, color accuracy, and response times compared to older display technologies like CRT and plasma. They are widely used in a variety of applications, including televisions, smartphones, computer monitors, and digital signage, due to their performance characteristics and energy efficiency in certain scenarios. The underlying principle is the direct generation of light by the display elements themselves, leading to a brighter and often more vivid visual experience.
