This can be a strategy to maintain market share and reduce the need for constant customer acquisition. High switching costs can create a competitive advantage, as customers may be less likely to consider alternatives even if they are offered at a lower price or with superior features. However, excessively high switching costs can also lead to customer dissatisfaction and resentment, potentially damaging a company's reputation in the long run.
