Uuo
Uuo, also known by its systematic element name ununoctium, and its symbol temporarily assigned as Uuo, is a theoretical chemical element with the atomic number 118. It is classified as a superheavy element within the periodic table, situated in Group 18, the noble gases. Due to its position at the far end of the periodic table, Uuo is predicted to possess properties similar to those of the lighter noble gases, although its extreme instability challenges direct observation.
The element was first synthesized in 2002 by a collaborative team of Russian and American scientists at
Uuo is expected to exhibit high radioactivity and rapid decay, primarily through alpha emission forming lighter
As a synthetic element, Uuo has no natural occurrence and has not been observed in macroscopic quantities.
