Userselected, often written as userSelected in camelCase, is a term used in computing to denote that a particular item, option, or element has been chosen by a human user rather than selected automatically by software or by default settings. It typically appears as a boolean flag or as part of a data model, indicating explicit user action. In some contexts the field may appear as userselected in lowercase, especially in JSON or database schemas, while in codebases that use camelCase it may be named userSelected, isUserSelected, or similar variants.

In user interfaces, a userSelected indicator is used to track which items a user has actively chosen within a list, menu, grid, or form. It can influence how elements are rendered (for example, highlighted state) and how subsequent actions are handled (such as applying filters or initiating operations). In accessibility terms, the selected state should be conveyed reliably to assistive technologies, ensuring that users relying on screen readers receive accurate feedback about which items are chosen.

In data models and analytics, userSelected can accompany fields such as selected, enabled, or active to distinguish between user-driven selections and system-initiated defaults (for instance, items that are auto-selected because they are recommended). It is often populated from event handlers (onClick, onChange) and stored alongside identifiers of the chosen items for auditing, personalization, or analytics purposes.

Implementation notes: programming languages and data formats do not prescribe a single name; userSelected or userselected is a common convention. In multi-select contexts, each item may carry its own userSelected flag or the interface may maintain a separate collection of user-chosen item identifiers.
