Ultralydstomografi
Ultralydstomografi, also known as ultrasound tomography or medical ultrasound, is a diagnostic imaging technique that uses high-frequency sound waves to create cross-sectional images of the body's internal structures. A transducer, a handheld device, is placed on the skin over the area of interest. This transducer emits sound waves that travel into the body and reflect off different tissues and organs. The transducer then detects these returning echoes. A computer processes the timing and intensity of these echoes to construct a real-time image. This method is non-invasive, meaning it does not require surgery or the injection of contrast agents in most cases, making it a safe and widely used diagnostic tool. Ultralydstomografi is particularly useful for imaging soft tissues and organs, such as the liver, kidneys, uterus, and heart. It is also employed during pregnancy to monitor fetal development. The images produced can help physicians identify abnormalities, assess the size and shape of organs, and guide procedures like biopsies. Unlike X-rays or CT scans, ultrasonography does not involve ionizing radiation, making it suitable for repeated examinations and for sensitive populations like pregnant women and children. The quality of the images depends on factors such as the skill of the operator and the acoustic properties of the tissues being examined.
