UVérzékenység, often translated as UV sensitivity or photosensitivity, refers to an adverse reaction of the skin to ultraviolet (UV) radiation. This sensitivity can manifest in various ways, with the most common being an exaggerated sunburn response. Individuals with UVérzékenység may develop redness, itching, blistering, and pain after even brief exposure to sunlight, often more severe and rapid than typically expected.

There are several underlying causes for UVérzékenység. Some individuals have a genetic predisposition, meaning their skin is naturally more susceptible to UV damage. Others may develop photosensitivity due to certain medications, including some antibiotics, diuretics, and anti-inflammatory drugs. These substances can make the skin more reactive to UV light. Additionally, certain medical conditions, such as lupus or porphyria, can also lead to increased UV sensitivity. Topical products, like certain fragrances or skincare ingredients, can also cause a photosensitizing reaction.

The diagnosis of UVérzékenység typically involves a thorough medical history, a physical examination of the skin, and sometimes phototesting, where the skin is exposed to controlled doses of UV radiation to assess its reaction. Management focuses on strict UV avoidance, including wearing protective clothing, hats, and sunglasses, and applying broad-spectrum sunscreen with a high SPF. For those with medication-induced photosensitivity, discontinuing or changing the offending drug under medical supervision may be necessary.
