Tørrdrakter

Tørrdrakter, also known as dry suits, are specialized garments designed for use in water environments, particularly in diving and other underwater activities. These suits are primarily made of neoprene, a synthetic rubber material that is both flexible and durable. The primary function of a dry suit is to keep the wearer dry by preventing water from entering the suit, even when the wearer is submerged. This is achieved through a combination of a tight-fitting design and a sealed neck and wrist openings.

Dry suits are typically worn over a wetsuit, which provides thermal insulation. The dry suit's neoprene material is often reinforced with additional layers or materials to enhance its water resistance and durability. The suit is usually equipped with a hood, gloves, and boots to provide a complete barrier against water ingress. Some advanced dry suits may also include features such as integrated weight systems, buoyancy compensators, or communication devices.

The use of dry suits is particularly common in technical diving, where divers may need to spend extended periods underwater or perform tasks that require precise control and dexterity. In recreational diving, dry suits are often used in cold water conditions to provide additional warmth and comfort. Despite their effectiveness, dry suits can be cumbersome and restrictive, making them less popular in warmer water environments where wetsuits alone are sufficient.
