Térképészetben refers to the Hungarian term for cartography, the art, science, and technology of making maps. It encompasses the study and practice of compiling and producing maps, which are graphical representations of the Earth's surface or a portion of it, depicting physical features, political boundaries, and other relevant information. Cartography involves a range of disciplines, including geography, surveying, geometry, and increasingly, computer science and geoinformatics.

The history of térképészetben spans millennia, with early maps being rudimentary drawings on clay tablets or animal skins. Over time, advancements in mathematics, astronomy, and navigation led to more accurate and detailed maps. Satellite imagery, aerial photography, and GPS technology provide vast amounts of data that are processed and incorporated into digital maps. This has revolutionized map production, making it faster, more dynamic, and enabling interactive map experiences.
