Täyttökenttiä, or text fields, are interactive UI elements that allow users to input data into computer programs, websites, or forms. They are typically rectangular boxes where a cursor appears, indicating that text or other data can be entered. In Finnish user interfaces, “täyttökenttä” is the colloquial term, whereas the plural form “täyttökenttiä” refers to multiple such fields.

The primary function of a täyttökenttä is to capture user-provided information, such as names, addresses, or search queries. Developers implement these fields using standard web technologies like HTML <input> or <textarea> elements, and on desktop operating systems they are built with widget toolkits (e.g., Qt’s QLineEdit or Java’s JTextField). Attributes such as maxlength, placeholder text, and validation rules define how the field behaves and what kinds of input it accepts.
