Tsuboya
Tsuboya is a historic district in Naha, the capital of Okinawa Prefecture, Japan. It is best known as the birthplace and traditional center of Tsuboya-yaki, the local ceramic ware produced in Okinawa. Pottery making has been carried out in the area since at least the 17th century, during the Ryukyu Kingdom era, when kilns and workshops clustered in the hillside streets. The area developed into a compact urban quarter characterized by narrow lanes, red-tiled houses, and a concentration of ceramic studios, kilns, and shops.
