Threaders

Threaders are professionals who perform threading, a cosmetic hair-removal technique that uses a twisted cotton thread to trap and pull unwanted hair from the follicle. The method originated in South Asia and the Middle East and gained global use in beauty salons. In a typical session, a length of thread is folded and twisted to create a series of loops; the practitioner manipulates the thread along the skin so that hairs are caught in the loops and removed with a quick tug. The process is commonly used on the eyebrows, upper lip, chin, and other facial areas, but can be applied to the neck and sideburns.

Advantages of threading include high precision, suitability for sensitive skin and small areas, and the absence of chemicals or heat, making it a preferred option for shaping eyebrows and removing fine hairs. Drawbacks include the need for skilled technique to achieve consistent results, potential temporary irritation or redness, and a risk of ingrown hairs. It is less efficient for large areas and may not be suitable for individuals with very sensitive skin or active skin conditions.

Reputable salons use clean, disposable or properly sanitized thread and adhere to standard hygiene practices to minimize irritation and infection risk.
