Thirumular, also spelled Tirumular or Thirumoolar, is a Tamil Shaiva sage regarded as one of the early Tamil Siddhas. He is traditionally credited with composing the Tirumantiram, a foundational Tamil text of Shaiva Siddhanta that comprises about 3,000 verses addressing theology, ethics, yoga, cosmology, and devotion to Shiva. The date of Thirumular is uncertain, but he is commonly placed in the early medieval period, roughly between the 6th and 9th centuries CE.
