Tetanustoxoid
Tetanustoxoid refers to the inactivated form of the tetanus toxin used as a vaccine to prevent tetanus. The toxin, tetanospasmin, is produced by Clostridium tetani and detoxified to form the toxoid, which stimulates an immune response without causing disease. Tetanus toxoid vaccines are commonly combined with diphtheria and pertussis vaccines in products such as DTaP for children and Td or Tdap for adolescents and adults.
The toxoid prompts the immune system to produce neutralizing antibodies against tetanospasmin. If future exposure occurs,
Tetanus toxoid is used in routine immunization programs and can be given in combination vaccines. In children,
Tetanus toxoid vaccines are generally safe; most adverse events are mild, such as soreness at the injection
