Tertiaariset

Tertiaariset is a theoretical construct in complex systems theory used to denote a third-order emergent state that arises from triadic interactions among three subsystems. The term combines tertia-, from Latin meaning third, with ariset, a neologism used in some analyses to denote an emergent state between levels in a hierarchy. In models, a tertiaariset state occurs when the three subsystems engage in a bounded, tri-layer feedback loop that yields stable patterns not reducible to any single subsystem.

Mathematical framing often involves three interacting state vectors a, b, and c, with a = F1(b, c), b = F2(c, a), and c = F3(a, b) defining the coupled system. A tertiaariset configuration is a fixed point or a bounded attractor of this triadic system. Stability is assessed via the Jacobian of the coupled map or differential equations; tertiaariset behavior is typically associated with nontrivial eigenvalue spectra that permit sustained oscillations, multi-stability, or quasi-periodic dynamics.

Origin and usage of the term are largely in illustrative and pedagogical contexts, where tertiaariset serves to discuss how tertiary interactions can alter system dynamics, resilience, and phase transitions. It is not tied to a universal empirical definition and may vary across disciplines.
