Termovormimine is a manufacturing process used to shape plastic materials. It involves heating a sheet of plastic until it becomes pliable, then forming it over or into a mold. Once the plastic cools and solidifies, it retains the shape of the mold. This technique is widely used for creating a variety of products, from packaging to automotive parts.

The process typically begins with a flat plastic sheet, often made from materials like polystyrene, PET, or PVC. This sheet is placed in a machine where it is heated to a specific temperature, making it flexible. At this point, the heated plastic is brought into contact with a mold. Various methods can be employed to force the plastic into the mold's shape, including vacuum forming, where a vacuum is used to pull the plastic tightly against the mold surface, or pressure forming, which utilizes compressed air to achieve the same result. Mechanical plug assists can also be used to improve wall thickness distribution.

After the plastic has conformed to the mold, it is cooled, causing it to harden. The finished part is then ejected from the mold.
