Taliolümpiad, also known as the Winter Olympic Games, is a major international multi-sport event held every four years for sports practiced on snow and ice. It is the winter counterpart to the Summer Olympic Games. The first Winter Olympics were held in Chamonix, France, in 1924. Initially, the Winter Games were held in the same year as the Summer Games. However, starting with the 1994 Lillehammer Games, the Winter Olympics have been held two years after the Summer Olympics.
