Taktjitter
Taktjitter, a compound term from German meaning “beat jitter,” refers to timing variation of events that are meant to occur at regular musical takt (beats or bars). In practice it denotes deviations from an ideal metronomic grid, so that the actual beat times drift relative to the intended tempo. In digital audio and media devices, taktjitter is often described as fluctuations in inter-beat intervals or as phase jitter with respect to the master clock.
Causes of taktjitter include human timing discrepancy when performing or conducting, clock inaccuracies in hardware, jitter
Impact: small amounts of taktjitter are sometimes experienced as groove or swing, but larger jitter degrades
Measurement and reduction: taktjitter can be quantified by measuring beat timestamps against a reference and reporting
