Taimiaine

Taimiaine, also known as **taimi** or **taimi oil**, is a traditional medicinal plant native to the Pacific Islands, particularly Polynesia, including regions such as Samoa, Tonga, and Hawaii. The plant belongs to the *Scaevola* genus and is scientifically classified as *Scaevola taccada*, though other species within the genus may also be referred to colloquially as taimiaine. It is commonly used in indigenous healing practices for its purported therapeutic properties.

The leaves, bark, and roots of taimiaine are traditionally harvested for medicinal purposes. The plant is often prepared as a poultice, infusion, or oil extract. In Polynesian culture, taimiaine has been applied topically to treat skin irritations, wounds, and infections, as well as to alleviate joint pain and inflammation.
