Substraatien

Substraatien are synthetic materials characterized by a hierarchical architecture in which an interconnected substrate network serves as a scaffold for discrete functional units. The concept emphasizes a primary substraat lattice that controls spatial organization, transport pathways, and interaction potentials within the material. The term is used in materials science and speculative design to describe a family of related structures.

In typical substraatien, the substraat framework forms a continuous matrix with embedded domains or clusters that can be catalytic, electronic, or optical in nature. Common motifs include lamellar, gyroidal, and honeycomb substraat networks. The porosity, pore size distribution, and interfacial area are tunable through lattice parameters, deposition conditions, and post-synthesis treatments.
