Steppermotorer

Steppermotorer, also known as stepper motors, are a type of brushless DC electric motor that divides a full rotation into a number of equal steps. The motor's position can be commanded to move and hold at one of these steps without any feedback sensor, as long as the motor is properly sized to the load. This makes them ideal for applications requiring precise positioning and controlled movement.

There are several types of steppermotors, including permanent magnet, variable reluctance, and hybrid motors. Permanent magnet motors use permanent magnets on the rotor and electromagnets on the stator. Variable reluctance motors have a soft iron rotor with teeth, and no magnets. Hybrid motors combine features of both permanent magnet and variable reluctance designs. The choice of motor type depends on factors such as torque requirements, speed, and cost.

Steppermotors are controlled by a driver circuit that sends pulses to energize the motor's stator windings in a specific sequence. Each pulse corresponds to a single step of rotation. This pulsed operation allows for precise control over the motor's speed and position. Applications for steppermotors are widespread and include 3D printers, CNC machines, robotics, scanners, and various industrial automation systems where accurate and repeatable motion is crucial. Their ability to maintain position without a feedback loop simplifies system design and reduces costs.
