The name "sphagnumba" is derived from "Sphagnum," a genus of peat moss, and a perceived resemblance to a slumbering entity. In the lore, they are considered a minor nuisance rather than a significant threat, often encountered by characters traveling through wilderness areas. Their diet is believed to consist of decaying organic matter, contributing to their role in the ecosystem of their fictional habitat.
