Souss

Souss is a geographic and historic region in southwestern Morocco, named after the Souss River that runs through the fertile Souss valley. The region lies between the Anti-Atlas mountains to the north and the Atlantic coast to the west, and it forms the heartland of the larger Souss-Massa macro-region in Morocco. The plain is renowned for irrigation-based agriculture, drawing from river water and canals to support crops such as citrus fruits, vegetables, bananas, and date palms. Argan trees grow in the foothills and provide the traditional argan oil.

In terms of population and culture, the Souss is home to Amazigh (Berber) communities, with Tashelhit (Shilha)

Administratively, the Souss is part of the modern Souss-Massa region, created during Morocco's 2015 regional reform,
