Moroccos

Moroccos is an uncommon plural form that may be used to refer to matters related to the Kingdom of Morocco and its people. In standard English, the country is called Morocco and its residents are called Moroccans. When Moroccos is encountered, it is typically as a loose descriptor for multiple aspects of Moroccan geography, society, or culture; nevertheless, encyclopedia entries usually use Morocco or Moroccans for clarity.

Geography and government

Morocco is located in North Africa, with coastlines on the Atlantic Ocean and the Mediterranean Sea. It borders Algeria to the east and the disputed Western Sahara region to the south. The capital is Rabat, and the largest city is Casablanca, with other major urban centers including Marrakesh and Fez. Morocco is a constitutional monarchy; since 2011 the king has retained substantial authority while a parliament and prime minister handle day-to-day government. The political system blends traditional authority with modern institutions, and it maintains territorial claims over Western Sahara, a subject of ongoing international dispute and negotiations.

Historic kingdoms and dynasties, including the Idrisids, Almoravids, and Alaouites, shaped Moroccan culture over centuries.
