SlipOnAufsetzflansch

A SlipOnAufsetzflansch, often translated as a slip-on flange, is a type of pipe fitting used in various industrial applications to connect pipes, valves, pumps, and other equipment. Its design allows it to be slipped over the end of a pipe before being welded in place. This contrasts with weld neck flanges, which have a tapered hub that is butt-welded to the pipe.

The primary advantage of a SlipOnAufsetzflansch lies in its ease of installation and lower cost compared to other flange types. The pipe end is simply inserted into the flange bore, and then fillet welds are applied both on the inside and outside of the flange. This method requires less precise pipe cutting and alignment, making it a more forgiving option for certain installations.

Slip-on flanges are commonly used in low-pressure and low-temperature applications where the cost-effectiveness and simpler installation outweigh the need for the superior structural integrity of a butt-welded flange. They are available in a wide range of materials, including carbon steel, stainless steel, and alloys, to suit different service conditions. Standards such as ASME B16.5 and EN 1092 define the dimensions, tolerances, and material requirements for slip-on flanges. Due to the fillet welding, they are generally not recommended for applications involving severe cyclic conditions or high stress.
