Slabtyyppistä

Slabtyyppistä is a Finnish term used in civil engineering and construction to describe a specific category of flat structural elements, commonly referred to as slab components. The word combines the English root "slab," meaning a broad, flat piece of material, with the Finnish word "tyyppi," meaning type. Thus, slabtyyppistä literally denotes an element that belongs to the slab type group.

In practice, slabtyyppistä elements refer to precast or cast‑in‑situ concrete slabs that are manufactured or constructed to meet particular design specifications regarding thickness, reinforcement, and load‑bearing capacity. These slabs are used for floors, roads, bridges, and building foundations, and they are typically classified according to the Finnish Standard FEN-EN 1992-1-1 (Eurocode 2), which lays out requirements for structural concrete.

A typical slabtyyppistä may have a uniform thickness ranging from 0.15 m to 0.45 m and may contain steel reinforcement or fibre reinforcement to improve tensile strength and durability. When used as floor slabs, they are often reinforced with a network of horizontal bars (Ties) placed at intervals of 20 cm to 30 cm to prevent cracking under live loads.
