Skäggväxten
Skäggväxten refers to the growth of facial hair in humans. This biological process is primarily driven by hormonal changes, particularly the increase in androgens like testosterone and dihydrotestosterone (DHT) during puberty. These hormones stimulate the hair follicles in the skin of the face, leading to the development of thicker, coarser hair. The pattern and density of beard growth vary significantly among individuals due to genetic factors and hormonal levels. While typically associated with males, women also possess facial hair follicles, though they are usually much finer and less noticeable due to lower androgen levels. The rate of growth, texture, and color of beard hair are all inherited traits. Beard growth can continue throughout a person's adult life, with some individuals experiencing increased density over time. The concept of skäggväxten is culturally significant in many societies, often associated with masculinity, maturity, and virility.
