Sheshi
Sheshi, also transliterated Seshi or Sheshy, is the name given by Egyptologists to a ruler of ancient Egypt known primarily from a large corpus of scarab seals and a few inscriptions. The surviving evidence is fragmentary, and no contemporaneous royal monuments survive, so Sheshi’s exact status and dates are disputed. He is commonly placed in the late Middle Kingdom or the early Second Intermediate Period, though precise chronology varies among scholars.
Attestations of Sheshi come mainly from scarab seals bearing his name, which have been found at sites
Identity and chronology remain debated because scarab evidence does not correspond to a clearly dated royal
Legacy: The widespread appearance of Sheshi’s name on scarabs has made him a focal point in discussions
