Semibridges

A semibridge is a type of bridge that is partially supported by a body of water, with only one end anchored to solid ground. This design is often used in areas where the terrain is unsuitable for a traditional bridge, or where the cost of a full bridge would be prohibitive. Semibridges can be found in various forms, including pontoon bridges, floating bridges, and barges that serve as temporary bridges.

Pontoon bridges are a common type of semibridge, consisting of a series of interconnected floating platforms, or pontoons, that are moored to the shore. These bridges can be raised or lowered as needed, making them useful for navigation and flood control. Floating bridges, on the other hand, are permanently moored in place and are designed to withstand the forces of water currents and waves.

Barges can also serve as semibridges, providing temporary access to an island or other landmass that is otherwise inaccessible. These barges are typically towed into position and secured with cables or anchors. Semibridges can be an effective and economical solution for crossing bodies of water in areas where other bridge types are not feasible.
