Seikoish

Seikoish is a constructed language designed for speculative fiction and language-learning experiments. It originated in online conlang communities in the early 21st century and has since been developed by multiple independent contributors. There is no single canonical form, and several dialects or reference guides circulate within user groups. The term Seikoish is used to refer both to the core grammar and lexicon and to the range of community-created variants.

Phonology and writing. Seikoish features a compact, easy-to-pronounce phoneme inventory. Vowels are five: a, e, i, o, u. The consonant set commonly includes p, t, k, s, m, n, h, r, and l, among others, with limited clusters. Syllables are typically CV or CVC, and stress is generally fixed on the penultimate syllable. The language is written primarily with the Latin alphabet, though some users employ ad hoc logograms for frequently used morphemes.

Grammar. Seikoish is designed to be analytic and largely uninflected. It follows a fixed subject–verb–object (SVO) word order. Nouns do not carry grammatical gender or case endings; plurality can be indicated with numerals or optional plural markers. Verbs do not conjugate for tense or aspect; tense and aspect are expressed through particles placed before the verb, such as ta for past, nu for present, and ne for future. Adjectives typically precede nouns.

Usage and reception. Seikoish is primarily used in online communities, in fan fiction, and in role-playing contexts. Dictionaries and learning resources exist in various forms, reflecting the lack of a centralized standard. It is generally regarded as accessible for new learners, though some linguists note that its lack of unified grammar can hinder definitive study.
