SecurID
SecurID is a family of two-factor authentication solutions developed by RSA Security that provides time-based one-time passwords used to verify a user’s identity when accessing corporate networks and applications. In a typical setup, a user possesses a token that generates a six- to eight-digit code, refreshed every 60 seconds. The code, entered with a password, is validated by an authentication server against the token’s seed value and the current time. The exact algorithm is proprietary, and there are variations including event-based tokens and push-based authentication.
The SecurID portfolio includes hardware tokens (key fobs and smart cards), software tokens for mobile devices
