ScanReady
Scanready is a term used in the field of document imaging to describe the state of a device, software, or workflow that is prepared to execute a scan. Because there is no universally adopted definition, the meaning of scanready varies by vendor and context. In hardware terms, scanready often implies that the scanner’s mechanical components are correctly positioned, the document feeder is cleared, the image sensor and illumination have warmed up, and calibration or white balance has been completed. In software terms, scanready can refer to a configuration where drivers and color profiles are loaded, the resolution and scan mode are set, and any pre-scan checks or OCR readiness steps are complete. In workflow terms, a scanready state may indicate that a document is properly prepared (straight, single- or double-sided), margins are set, and automated pre-processing such as deskew, crop, and noise reduction can proceed without user intervention. Some vendors label features as "scan-ready" to justify automation levels in multi-function devices or capture pipelines.
