SDLCmodell, or Software Development Life Cycle Model, is a framework that defines the tasks, deliverables, and activities required to develop software from concept through deployment and ongoing maintenance. It provides a structured approach to planning, designing, building, testing, releasing, and sustaining software products, aligning technical work with business goals and stakeholder expectations.

SDLC models describe the sequence and interaction of phases, the roles involved, and the artifacts produced. Common models include the Waterfall model, which follows a linear, sequential flow; the V-Model, which pairs development activities with corresponding validation steps; iterative and incremental models, which deliver working software in repeated cycles; Agile approaches (such as Scrum or Kanban), emphasizing adaptive planning, frequent delivery, and close collaboration; the Spiral model, which combines risk-driven prototyping with iterative refinement; and DevOps-oriented practices that integrate development and operations for continuous delivery.

Typical phases across many SDLC models are requirements gathering and analysis, system and software design, implementation or coding, verification and testing, deployment, and maintenance. Core artifacts include requirements specifications, architecture and design documents, source code, test plans and test cases, and release notes.

The choice of SDLCmodell depends on project context, including requirements stability, risk tolerance, regulatory constraints, team size, and customer involvement. Standards such as ISO/IEC 12207 and CMMI provide process guidance for defining and improving life cycle processes. In practice, organizations often adopt hybrid approaches that blend elements from multiple models to fit their needs.
