SABMiller

SABMiller plc was a multinational brewing and beverage company formed in 2002 by the merger of South African Breweries (SAB) and Miller Brewing Company of the United States. It grew to be one of the world's largest brewers by volume, with operations in more than 60 countries and a diverse portfolio of beer and other beverages. The company was headquartered in London and listed on the London Stock Exchange and the Johannesburg Stock Exchange.

The business operated across Africa, Asia, Europe and the Americas, involving production, distribution and marketing of many brands. In North America, SABMiller owned a majority stake in MillerCoors, a joint venture with Molson Coors established in 2008 to market beer brands in the United States and Canada.

In 2015, Anheuser-Busch InBev announced an all-cash purchase of SABMiller for about $107 billion. The deal concluded in October 2016. To obtain regulatory approval, AB InBev undertook divestitures, including selling its stake in MillerCoors to Molson Coors and divesting certain brands and regional businesses to other buyers, notably Peroni and Grolsch to Asahi Group Holdings.

The SABMiller name was retired as acquired assets were integrated into AB InBev, and the London listing was cancelled. SABMiller's legacy lives on in the brands and markets that became part of AB InBev's portfolio, while the company no longer exists as an independent entity.
