Molson

Molson is a historic Canadian brewing brand and part of Molson Coors Beverage Company. It originated in Montreal when John Molson founded a brewery in 1786. Over the 19th and 20th centuries Molson grew into one of Canada’s largest brewers, producing beers that became staples in Canadian markets.

In 2005, Molson merged with the U.S.-based Coors to form Molson Coors Brewing Company, creating a global brewing group. The company later rebranded as Molson Coors Beverage Company to reflect a broader beverage portfolio beyond beer. Through acquisitions and joint ventures, Molson Coors expanded its geographic reach and brand slate, including Canadian brands such as Molson Canadian and Molson Export, and the acquisition of Alexander Keith’s brewery.

Today the group markets a mix of beer brands and other beverages across North America and Europe. Its portfolio commonly includes Coors Light, Miller Lite, Miller High Life, Carling, as well as regional Molson labels. In Canada, Molson remains a leading beer brand alongside its sister brands within the Molson Coors lineup. The company operates as a multinational beverage business with production, distribution, and marketing networks in several countries and is listed publicly on major stock exchanges.
