Ruinchripe

Ruinchrype is an extinct breed of horse known for its unique characteristics and historical significance. The breed originated in the 17th century in what is now the Netherlands and was developed for its exceptional strength, intelligence, and agility.

Ruinchrype horses were primarily used for transportation and agriculture, with their robust bodies and strong legs allowing them to withstand the demands of heavy labor. The breed's intelligence made them highly trainable, and they were often used for riding and driving.

Physically, Ruinchrype horses were distinguished by their compact build, strong topline, and well-defined joints. They usually stood between 14.2 and 15.2 hands high and weighed between 900 and 1,200 pounds. Their coats varied in color, with black, bay, brown, and chestnut being the most common.

The Ruinchrype breed experienced a significant decline in the 18th century, primarily due to the introduction of more modern and efficient horse breeds from other European countries. As a result, the breed was gradually phased out, and by the mid-19th century, it was nearly extinct.

Although the Ruinchrype breed no longer exists, it has had a lasting impact on horse breeding and has contributed to the development of several modern horse breeds, including the Friesian and the Gelderland. Today, efforts are being made by some horse breeders and enthusiasts to recreate the Ruinchrype breed through selective breeding programs, although these attempts are not universally recognized.
