Rowoverflow is a colloquial term in computing that describes a situation where the content of a single row exceeds the width of the area allocated to display it, causing data to extend beyond the visible boundary. It is not a formal standard term, but it appears in discussions of user interfaces, data presentation, and buffer management to describe overflow behavior in rows.

In tabular displays such as spreadsheets, databases, and web grids, rowoverflow occurs when a row contains many columns or long content that cannot fit in the allocated viewport. Depending on the design, overflow may trigger horizontal scrolling, truncation with ellipses, or wrapping of cell content. Responsive or virtualized tables attempt to minimize rowoverflow by autosizing columns or reflowing content.

In memory layouts and buffers, rowoverflow can refer to writing past the end of a fixed-width row in a two-dimensional array or a fixed-size record. This is a classic form of buffer overflow risk and can lead to data corruption or security vulnerabilities if not checked.

Mitigation strategies include enabling horizontal scrolling, enabling text wrapping or truncation with tooltip, reducing the number of visible columns, using responsive column strategies, and employing virtualization for large datasets. In memory contexts, obtaining safe APIs, bounds checks, dynamic allocation, and careful handling of input are essential.
