These elongated, unsegmented worms are characterized by the presence of a proboscis, a retractable feeding organ that coils within a specialized cavity called the rhynchocoel. This proboscis is typically armed with stylets, sharp structures used to pierce and capture prey.

Ribbon worms exhibit a remarkable diversity in size, color, and habitat.
