Restdeformität

Restdeformität refers to the residual deformity that remains after a surgical procedure intended to correct a malformation or injury. This term is commonly used in fields such as orthopedics, plastic surgery, and reconstructive surgery. It signifies that the anatomical abnormality has not been entirely resolved by the intervention, and a degree of deviation from the normal structure persists.

The presence of a restdeformität can be a consequence of various factors. These may include the inherent complexity of the original condition, limitations in surgical techniques, the body's healing response, or the development of complications. For instance, in orthopedic surgery addressing congenital hip dysplasia, a restdeformität might indicate that the hip joint is still not perfectly aligned or stable.
