Resonaattorin is a Finnish term that translates to "resonator" in English. It refers to a device or component that exhibits strong resonance. Resonance is a phenomenon where a system vibrates with maximum amplitude at specific frequencies, known as resonant frequencies. These frequencies are determined by the physical properties of the system, such as its mass, stiffness, and damping.

In various fields of science and engineering, resonators play crucial roles. In acoustics, musical instruments like guitars, pianos, and violins utilize resonant cavities to amplify and shape the sound produced by their vibrating strings or air columns. Similarly, in electronics, resonant circuits, often composed of inductors and capacitors, are used to select or amplify specific frequencies in radio receivers and transmitters.
