Reprodukciu refers to the biological process by which organisms produce new individuals. It sustains populations, passes genetic information to the next generation, and underpins much of the diversity observed in nature. Reproduction can occur without a mate in asexual modes or with genetic recombination in sexual modes, depending on the species and context.

Asexual reproduction yields offspring genetically identical to the parent, aside from occasional mutations. Common strategies include binary fission in bacteria, budding in yeasts, fragmentation in some invertebrates, and vegetative propagation in plants. Spores, produced by fungi and many plants, can also give rise to new individuals.

Sexual reproduction combines genetic material from two parents through the production of gametes (egg and sperm). Meiosis reduces chromosome numbers and introduces variation, while fertilization forms a zygote with a complete genome. Sexual modes often require mating behaviours, specialized organs, and sometimes external or internal fertilization, contributing to genetic diversity and adaptive potential.

In plants, reproduction involves flowers or cones producing gametes, pollination, fertilization, and seed or fruit formation. Many plants alternate generations between a diploid sporophyte and a haploid gametophyte. Vegetative reproduction also occurs, allowing descendants to arise from roots, stems, or leaves without seeds.

Human reproduction is a product of biological, hormonal, and social factors. It involves puberty, gametogenesis, conception, pregnancy, and birth, with medical and ethical considerations surrounding fertility, contraception, and reproductive technologies such as assisted reproduction.
