Reintubatsioon

Reintubatsioon, also known as re-intubation, refers to the process of inserting a breathing tube into a patient's airway after an initial intubation has been performed. This procedure is typically necessary when the patient experiences respiratory failure, airway obstruction, or other complications that impair effective breathing despite previous intubation.

Reintubation is associated with increased risks compared to the initial intubation, including trauma to the airway, aspiration, hypoxia, and hemodynamic instability. Therefore, it is generally considered a challenging procedure that requires careful assessment and preparation. It is commonly performed in emergency or intensive care settings by trained healthcare professionals.

Indications for reintubation include respiratory distress, decreased oxygenation, severe agitation, loss of consciousness, or the inability to protect the airway.
