Reibbar

Reibbar is a German adjective derived from the verb reiben (to rub). It denotes that something can be rubbed or that rubbing occurs, and in more technical contexts, that a surface or component interacts with another by means of friction. The suffix -bar expresses capability or admissibility, similar to English -able.

Common usage is pragmatic and context-dependent. In everyday language one might speak of "eine reibbare Oberfläche" to indicate a surface that can be rubbed for cleaning, polishing, or testing. In mechanics and engineering the term is used to describe parts where friction between contacting surfaces is a functional or design feature, such as "reibende Kontakte" or "reibbare Bauteile".

Reibung is the broader phenomenon; "reibbar" is not itself a physical law but a descriptor used when friction is relevant to the property or behavior of a component (e.g., wear, grip, braking). It is somewhat specialized and can appear more often in technical documentation than in casual speech. The opposite forms include "reibungsarm" (low friction) or "reibungslos" (frictionless).
