Regulatione

Regulatione is a term encountered in Latin-language texts to denote the act or process of regulating. It stems from regulatio, itself from regula meaning “rule,” with the -tione suffix forming a noun in Latin. In medieval and early modern writings, regulatione appears in phrases describing rulemaking, governance, or compliance regimes, often within longer descriptions of regulatory practice.

Historically, regulatione occurs in legal and administrative Latin contexts related to guild rules, market oversight, and church or state administration. In modern scholarship and translations, the word is sometimes used to refer to the Latin analogue of contemporary regulation, linking ancient notions of rulemaking to present-day regulatory concepts.

Modern regulation, as a policy concept, is a tool used by governments and institutions to influence behavior, allocate resources, and protect public welfare.
