Raubfischvorfächer, often translated as predator fishing leaders, are essential terminal tackle components used in angling for predatory fish. Their primary purpose is to protect the main fishing line from the sharp teeth and abrasive mouths of species like pike, zander, and barracuda. Without a leader, a strong predator could easily sever the main line, resulting in the loss of the lure and potentially the fish.

These leaders are typically made from strong, abrasion-resistant materials. Common choices include steel wire, braided stainless steel, fluorocarbon, and titanium. Each material offers different advantages regarding flexibility, visibility underwater, and durability. Wire leaders are highly effective against sharp teeth but can be less subtle. Fluorocarbon leaders offer good abrasion resistance and are nearly invisible in water, making them suitable for wary predators, though they may not be as robust as wire for the largest or most aggressive species. Titanium leaders combine strength with flexibility, offering a good balance for many predatory applications.
