Rashidun refers to the first four caliphs who led the Islamic community after the death of the Prophet Muhammad: Abu Bakr, Umar, Uthman, and Ali. The term, meaning “Rightly Guided” in Arabic, is used primarily in Sunni Islam to describe a period of leadership regarded as exemplary in justice, governance, and adherence to Islamic law, before the establishment of dynastic caliphates.
