Rajakohtiin

Rajakohtiin is Finnish for border points, referring to specific locations along a boundary where two territories meet. The term is used in geographic, cartographic, and legal contexts to denote precise points on a boundary line, rather than general areas near it. A rajakohta can be part of an international frontier, a regional boundary, or a municipal border.

In practice, a rajakohta has defined coordinates in a map datum and may be marked by markers, cairns, markers embedded in the landscape, or by conspicuous natural features that help indicate the boundary. A rajakohta is a boundary point on the line itself, while a rajanylityspaikka is an officially designated location where crossing the border is permitted and managed by authorities. Many borders include both crossing points and non-crossing boundary points along their length.
