Rabperheetin

Rabperheetin is a fictional signaling molecule described within speculative biology and educational simulations. In these narratives, Rabperheetin is produced by cells of certain imagined microbes of the genus Rabperheeta and serves as an intercellular messenger that coordinates stress responses and community behavior.

The name derives from the fictional genus Rabperheeta and the common peptide suffix -in.

Rabperheetin is a short peptide, typically 12–14 amino acids, secreted via a signal peptide. The mature form interacts with a receptor named RabHR1 on neighboring cells, activating a transcriptional program linked to heat-shock and oxidative stress responses, as well as biofilm formation in simulated communities.

Binding to RabHR1 triggers intracellular signaling that converges on a conserved stress-responsive transcription factor. The mature peptide is stabilized in the extracellular milieu by a disulfide bond in some simulations, which influences diffusion length and signaling range.
