RHIB
A rigid-hulled inflatable boat, commonly abbreviated RHIB or RIB, is a small to mid-size craft featuring a solid, shaped hull surrounded by one or more inflatable tubes (sponsons). The rigid hull provides strength, seaworthiness, and planing efficiency, while the inflatable collar offers buoyancy, stability, and good load-carrying capacity. This combination allows RHIBs to operate in a wide range of sea states and conditions, including shallow harbors and tight spaces.
Construction and configuration typically involve an aluminum or fiberglass hull with removable or integral inflatable tubes
Applications and operators span military, coast guards, police, and search-and-rescue services, as well as civilian roles
Maintenance involves regular inspection of hull integrity, tube pressure and condition, engine servicing, and puncture repairs
