REACHohjelman
REACHohjelman refers to Finland’s framing and administration of the European Union's REACH regulation, known officially as Regulation (EC) No 1907/2006 on Registration, Evaluation, Authorisation and Restriction of Chemicals. The program seeks to improve protection of human health and the environment by making chemical substance information more available and by ensuring that risks are managed throughout a substance’s life cycle. Under REACH, substances manufactured or imported into the EU in quantities above one tonne per year must be registered with data on properties, uses, and hazards. Registrants may also produce chemical safety reports and propose appropriate risk management measures. The regulation enables ongoing evaluation by ECHA and national authorities, and it establishes an authorization and restriction framework for substances of very high concern. The central information system is REACH-IT, through which data are submitted and tracked.
In Finland, REACHohjelman is supported by national authorities such as the Finnish Safety and Chemicals Agency
Impact includes obligations for manufacturers and importers to compile or obtain robust substance information and to
