Quadricepssträckning, often referred to as a quadriceps stretch, is a common flexibility exercise targeting the muscles on the front of the thigh. These muscles, collectively known as the quadriceps femoris, are essential for extending the knee and flexing the hip. Regular quadriceps stretching can help improve range of motion, reduce muscle stiffness, and potentially alleviate discomfort associated with tight quadriceps.

The most typical form of the quadricepssträckning involves standing and grasping one ankle behind the body, gently pulling the heel towards the buttocks. It's important to maintain an upright posture and avoid arching the lower back. The stretch should be felt in the front of the thigh. Another variation can be performed lying on the stomach, reaching back to grasp the ankle and drawing the heel towards the gluteal muscles. Holding the stretch for a sustained period, typically 20 to 30 seconds, and repeating it several times on each leg is generally recommended.

It can also be a component of rehabilitation programs following injuries to the leg or hip.
